Andrew Chew was born 1830 in Jefferson County, Illinois. He enlisted in Company H, 27th Illinois Volunteer Infantry on August 1, 1861.

He married Mahala Deason in 1864.

He re-enlisted 1864 as veteran volunteer in Company G, 9th Illinois Volunteer Infantry. He mustered out July 1865 at Louisville, Kentucky.

He died in 1912 and is buried at City Cemetery, Murphysboro, Illinois.

He was a baptist and attended Sato Church in Jackson County, Illinois.
