Cyrenius Smith Courtright served in Company F of the 13th Illinois Volunteer Infantry. He was from Cortland, Illinois and served proudly during the Civil War. He was wounded in both legs and his discharge papers contain that information. R. A. Wilson, an old friend of Abraham Lincoln, wrote in red ink on the discharge about the battles Cyrenius had seen and the wounds he sustained.
