George Dutton served in Co. H of the 9th Illinois Calvary. He mustered in March 3, 1865 and out October 31, 1865 at Selma, Alabama.

His occupation at the time of enlistment was laborer. He later moved to Gravity, Iowa where he died and is buried in Washington Cemetery. He married Mary Jane Cole, 18 June 1867, in Toulon, Stark Co., Illinois. To this unio 10 children were born: Ezekiel L., Clara Etta, William E., Hettie M., Henry E., Mary Edith, John Elmer, Zula Artie, Mora A. and Virt Bonnie Dutton.
