Lapsley Campbell Henley
Company B, 7th Illinois Volunteer Infantry

Private Lapsley Campbell Henley served with Co. B of the 7th Illinois Volunteer Infantry from September 1861 until September 1864. The unit was home on furlough in January of 1864 when he married his sweetheart, Mary Elizabeth Allison. We believe this photo was taken at that time. When he returned from the war he became an attorney, and served as the Mattoon City Attorney, and later as Coles County Judge.

My "cousin", Bruce Henley, of Granbury, TX owns the original photo.

See a family photo of the Henleys.
