Sam Henry Hoover, b. 1844 in Pendleton Co.. Father: Samuel A. Hoover (b.1804)& mother Margaret Brady. (both born in Pendleton Co.(W)VA. Family moved out of Pendleton in 1858 to McLean County, Downs, Ill.

Fought in the Civil War for Co. F, 94th Illinois Infantry Regiment.

Moved on to Kansas in 1869 after the war and planted an Apple Orchard. Hoover's Orchard shipped Apples all over the U.S.
