Jerome A. Martin

Company H, 69th Illinois Volunteer Infantry

Jerome A. Martin was born about 1832 in Jefferson County, New York. Very little is known about this man. He must have been estranged from the rest of the family. There is no mention of him in any of the other families records. The following is taken from 69th Infantry Regiment History and Roster: "Jerome served as a Cpl in Co. "H" 69th Illinois Infantry. He was a resident of Dixon, Illinois and mustered June 14, 1862. The 69th Regiment was organized at Camp Douglas, Chicago and was mustered into service June 14, 1862. It remained on duty at Camp Douglas guarding the camp and rebel prisoners. The entire company was mustered out September 27, 1862".
