My grand father John Martin enlisted in the union army at Springfield Il. He ws 27 yrs. old. He enlisted Aug. 21st. 1861. Discharged at Springfield Il. Oct. 1864. Born july 24 1833. Died Jan.1898. Buried at Bakers Praririe Church Cemetery, near Petersburg Il. Menard county. The church is gone as are most of the stones. It lies on priavte property. Unable to locate the stone but it was there 40 years ago leaning on a tree.
