John A. Mooney Company K, 12th Illinois Volunteer Infantry

John A. Mooney served in Company K of the 12th Illinois Volunteer Infantry. His brother, William, was also a member of this regiment, but during a different time period. A third brother, Robert L. Mooney, served in Company L of the 9th Illinois Volunteer Cavalry. He died in Montevallo, Alabama and was buried there, bu the body was later moved to Section L, Grave 55 at the Marietta-Atlanta National Cemetery in Marietta, Georgia.
