Colonel William P Moore, 49th Illinois Volunteer Infantry.

b. July 8, 1833 Waterloo, IL.d. march 9, 1903, Tulsa, Oklahoma Indian Territory. M Mary Jane North, b March 5, 1849, Cochecton Co. Ohio, d. October 20, 1911, Delaware, Oklahoma. m January 26, 1871, Butler, Bates County Missouri.

After Mustering out September 1865, Col More went to the Indian Territory where he drove cattle from Texas to the rail-heads in Kansas and Missouri. He Settled in Tulsa, Indian Territory where he owned "Colonel Moore's Hotel and held the position of Postmaster, in That Part of the Indian Territory. He had one son and two daughters who survived him.

He was mustered in a Captain of company B of the 49th Infantry in December 1861 and stayed with that unit until he was mustered out as Colonel, commander of the 49th Infant in September 1865. He was in every major engagement of the 49th Illinois, receiving a Courts Martial by Gen Grant at Shiloh for allowing one of his me to take leave, was captured and a prisoner of war at Henderson's Station and was wounded at the battle of Pleasant Hill, Louisiana.
