I purchased this at an estate sale, and when I removed the picture from the frame, found written on the back " Lt. Fitzhugh Reed, 1st white child born in Sheffield Ill. 1833. Served under Sherman in the Civil War"

Based on that information I have been searching the internet and have found the following;

Reed enlisted on 20 Sept, 1861 in Birge's Western Shapshooters which was mustered in as the 14th Missouri infantry Nov. 23, 1861. On Nov. 20 1862 the regiment's name was changed to the 66th Illinois Infantry. He evidently originally enlisted for 90 days as he is shown as re-enlisting as a veteran on Nov. 9 1861. Reed was promoted to Sergeant May 21, 1862, and again promoted to Lt., Regimental Quartermaster on Dec. 22 1864. He mustered out July 7, 1865.

He was born 5 May, 1833 at Sheffield Ill. Married Adelphi Wicks on 5 Sept. 1866 in Rock Island County. They had seven children. He died 17 Dec. 1879.
