One horse and equipment captured by the enemy 22 Oct 1862 near Helena, Ark. valued at $140. Apptd. Co. Commissary Sergt. 1 Jan 1863 by order Col. H. Wilson. Horse killed in action at Mechanicsburg, Miss. 4 Jun 1863, valued at $125. Discharged 17 Dec 1864 at Vicksburg, Miss. Muster out roll for Co. D 5th Regt IL Cavalry, & as Sergt. Co. M, 5th Regt IL Cavalry, on 27 Oct 1865 at Springfield, Illinois.

Dr. Jonas H. Roe was born August 3, 1819 Hardystown Twp., Sussex Co., New Jersey and died March 21, 1873 at the health Institute, Battle Creek, Calhoun Co., Michigan. He was married 3 times: 1) Alice Ann Barber on November 10, 1842 in DeKalb Co., Indiana; 3 children-John Early, Drusilla L. Mosier, and Susan B. Alice died 1846 and he married 2) Emily Aldrich on September 2, 1847 in DeKalb Co., Indiana. Jonas and Emily had 4 children: Emily A. Vandaveer Booth, Alice A. Melig, John W., and Harriet D. Hart. Following the death of second wife, he married her cousin, 3) Celina Aldrich on February 7, 1856 in DeKalb Co., Indiana. They had one son, Charles H., who died in infancy. He and his family moved to Greenwood Co., Kansas following the Civil War.
