Daniel Sanders was born in Williamson County, Illinois on Dec 23, 1836. He was the son of Joseph Sanders and Elizabeth Stubblefield of Robertson County, Tennessee, who migrated to near Johnson City, Williamson County, Illinois around 1833. During the Civil War, Daniel had enrolled in Company I of the 128th Illinois Infantry on Aug 5, 1862 as a Wagoner. He saw no action, as he contracted diseases, including chronic diarrhea while at Camp near Mounds City near Cairo, Illinois. He was the nephew of Luke SANDERS, of the same Regiment, who was personal friends with General John A. LOGAN. Based on disability from chronic diarrhea, Daniel was honorably discharged June 26, 1863 at Columbus, Kentucky. He received a pension for his disabilities in 1879, but died 8 short years later on Jan 1, 1887.
