Nathan Sizelove

Company M, 2nd Illinois Volunteer Cavalry

Nathan Sizelove served as a Private in Company M, 2nd Illinois Cavalry.
The 19-year-old farmer from Bath, Mason County, Illinois enrolled December 10, 1861 for a term of three years and was mustered into service December 30, 1861 at Cairo, Illinois by Capt. Hillyer.

Born about 1842 in Franklin County, Indiana to William and Lourinda Mann Sizelove, Nathan died August 5, 1864 in Mason County, Illinois at the age of 23/24 from a disease contracted during his service in the Civil War.

Other Sizelove family members to serve were Nathan's father, William - Pvt., Co. M, 2nd IL Cav., and brothers, John - Pvt. Co. D & E, 85th IL Inf.,
Jacob - Pvt., Co. M, 2nd IL Cav., Orman - Pvt. Co. A & M, 2nd IL Cav., and Joseph - Musician, Co. K, 115 IL Inf.
