AMOS E. SWEET

13th Illinois Volunteer Infantry

Amos E. Sweet was born in Canada, December 17, 1836, and died at his home at the Burg on May 1, 1904.

When the Civil War broke out, he enlisted at once and served throughout the struggle with great credit to himself. He, together with his regiment, the 13th Illinois, participated in many engagements and no friend of the old 13th ever had reason to be other than proud of their war record. He passed through all the vicissitudes of war unscathed by show or shell and was discharged at its close with honor.
