John W. Whitmore Company F, 119th Illinois Infantry

John was a Medal of Honor recipent in the Civil War. He enlisted in IL, but later lived in Des Moines County, IA. He is buried at the Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Pleasant Grove, IA. John was in the 119th IL Infantry, Company F. His brothers, Jonas and Loren were also in this same company. Submitted by Carol Wilkerson
