Caleb Wesley York

Company D, 98th Illinois Volunteer Infantry

Caleb Wesley York was from Oblong, Crawford County, Illinois. He served in Company D of the 98th Illinois Volunteer Infantry. His name is listed as "Charles" York on the Adjutant General's regimental roster, however, he is listed as "Caleb" in the published index of Civil War soldiers we located at the state library.

Caleb was born March 22, 1838, in Oblong, Illinois. His father was Jerimiah York and his mother was Sarah Hill York (both born in Kentucky). Caleb married Marinda Lorrain Clark in 1865. They had nine children. He died November 224, 1881 in Illinois.
