This is a picture of the regimental monument at Chickamauga Battlefield in Georgia. It is in Viniard Field just west of the LaFayette Road. A number of other Illinois regimental monuments are here, but I only have the picture of one side of the 51st. This monument marks the location of fighting of the 51st on September 19, 1863 in the afternoon, and is the location of the wounding of Col. L. P. Bradley of the 51st who was commanding the 3rd Brigade of Sheridan's Division (McCooks Corps). The brigade at this location recaptured some artillery.

This is the small regimental marker for the 51st in Bragg Reservation on Missionary Ridge in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It is a little hard to read. It's text is: 51st Infantry, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Division, 4th Corps, Nov. 25, 1863, 5 P.M. The 51st, as part of Harker's Brigade, Sheridan's Division, Granger's Corps, participated in the assault on Missionary Ridge.
